REPLAY!
LE GRANDE CIRQUE DU COW TOWN T Race Starts! )
Obviously I made too many racers, as this picture suggests. However, I filled out the field a bit by adding "The Pack", a group of racers not run by any particular racer-- just for color. I couldn't stand having all that effort go for nought, really. Click here to see how crowded the field was!
A: The Anarchist Skatesail, pilot: Mike Bakunin.
B: Le Petomaine and Krondstat, in the pack.
C: The Klaw, Pilot: Kapitan Kruger, German Army. A clockwork.
D: The Bat Coach, Pilot: The Count.
E: The Arapaho Steam Pony, Pilot: Chief Pantagruel
F: Don Diego Guadalope Hidalgo, known as the Rat. Started in the Pack, was picked up
after an explosion.
G: Captain Munoz, from Spain.
H: The Dowd Steam Car, Pilot: Elwood Dowd. He blew up quickly.
I: The Referee on a unicycle.
J: Egg Chen, the Crimson Mandarin, on a rocket bicycle.
K: Ali Assassin, who was part of the Pack.
L: The Flying Carpet of Baghdad, Pilot: Hidreema Djeenie
M: The Wind Wagon, Pilot: Cow Town Temperance League
N: Sgt. Hugh O'Brien, US 7th Cavalry. Part of the pack.
O: LT Albobrandini, Italy, running the Gotfredi Steam Velociped. It also blows up
messily.
P: The Birdman of Biloxi, running the flying harness.
Here's the course:
Here are some pictures showing some of the setup. The grandstand, made for this event by Mr. Dave Markley, was particularly nice.
As I state above, I made WAY to many conveyances for this event. Still, better safe than sorry. I wouldn't want to have turned any one away. These were my "surplus racers." A pity... I was hoping someone would take Professor Prunesqualor's Peculiar Conveyance (top left). I like steam vehicles. Their penchant for blowing up at odd moments adds to the excitement of a race. Hey! Was that Foreshadowing? Read on and see....
