This ADC2 game is for the original version of:
World War II, European Theater of Operations, 1939-45,
published by Simulations Publications in 1973.

For someone looking for an exact recreation of the original, I have to
apologize. I am partially color blind and I discovered that I could
not duplicate the original colors on the map or on the playing pieces.
Instead, I tried to get easily distinguishable tints. The Axis units
are all shades of gray and the Allied units are shades of green and
brown. Some of the neutrals are black or blue. If someone does not
like any of these tints, it takes very little time to change colors
for all a country's units.

I sized the map hexes and the playing pieces for 1 per hex at Level 1
but 4 per hex at levels 2 and 3. I prefer that configuration because
all the units are always visible (at levels 2 and 3) rather than
having to move the cursor over all the hexes to look for more detail.

The map does not contain all the shoreline detail of the original.
I created all the shoreline hexes for corner-to-corner. After I
created the entire map, I looked over hexes that did not look anything
like they should. Denmark, Greece, Crimea, Suez were the most
obvious locations needing 'help', and all the islands had to be
custom hexes. I tinkered with a few others but I felt this map is
'close enough' for a free distribution.

The map has a few playing aids.

The terrain effects chart is provided at the lower left. The movement
costs and combat effects are shown. The movement allowances in a
clear-weather hex for the different seasons is also shown.

Along the northern Russian map edge, the number of resource centers
in that column is shown. That makes it a little easier to count them
by adding from right to left until the German units start to cover
some of them. The resource centers include the hex edges so that
they are easily found even when occupied.

Instead of keeping track of Italian losses on paper or in a pool,
there is a hex at the bottom of the map to hold the unit losses.
As soon as there are four 2sp units visible in the hex, Italy will
surrender.

In the original, the number of amphibious transport units had to
be recorded on paper. This map has pools for these units for both
the Axis and Allies.

The Game Turn Record Track is shown in the lower right. The detail
from the original map (e.g., reinforcements, replacements,
Lend-Lease, naval transport/amphibious transport availability) is
not provided. To have provided all that detail on the map via ADC2
would have taken a great deal of map space. A Game Turn Phase track
is provided as a reminder; it does not have to be used.

I enjoyed playing this game over 25 years ago and it was fun
creating it on my computer. Perhaps others might still want to play
it again. I also have AH Third Reich but I remember enjoying this
game because it was simpler.

This is my second ADC2 game from scratch. I tried Wolfpack first.
Wolfpack has a very simple map and a small number of units. It is
also a fun solitaire game even if nearly everything is decided by
chance.
