Enclosed in this archive you should find the following files: France40.txt (this message) Module directory: France40.GPF France40.GPG Savedgames directory: F40Sorted.gps F40Historical.gps You must own a copy of France 1940 to be able to use this module. This game only had one printing cycle, and was discontinued by Avalon Hill, in spite of being one of their more acclaimed titles. Copies may be found on E-Bay and at Finegames.com. To install with your WarGame processor, put the files in the appropriate directories under your game processor root directory. This should have been done by the self-extractor. This module only uses two of the available six values on the right side of the screen. They are: Cmbt: Ground combat value Move: Ground Movement factors (defaults to show the lowest in the stack) The Map: The map has been turned 30 degrees to allow it to conform to the hex grain of the WarGame Processor. I wanted to put all the river names on the map, but this was impractical because of the size of text I would have had to use to be readable. The National borders are shown as reddish pink lines, instead of the dashed black lines of the original map. The turn record chart is below the map, and the victory point track is in the upper right. The Units: I’ve color coded the borders of all air units and ground support units in order to make it easier to match up the appropriate counters. Each air support unit has an "I" printed on one side and a "C" printed on the other, to differentiate units on an Interdiction or CAS mission. The Forcepools: This module doesn’t really require much in the way of forcepools, so most of the available 18 are marked as "Not used". There is a dead pile forcepool, an "off map" forcepool for units which have left the map, and a "spare" forcepool for the extra counters I had after I finished the design. Setup:Because of the unique way France 1940 handles the available unit Orders of Battle, there was no way I could make a start file for every possible combination of units. What I have done is provided a "sorted" setup, where all the units are stacked by type in the lower right area of the play field. You should then use your scenario cards to sort out the units to be used before you begin play. I recommend you put the unused units in one of the unused forcepools. Reinforcements should be placed on the appropriate game turn area of the turn record track. I have provided an example using the historical setup. Thanks to Gene Cathey for loaning me his copy of this game for the design.
